Receipts from Joint Fundraising Committees
Here are the things you should have before you begin:
- The check from the joint fundraising committee
- The list of the donors that contributed
- For larger JFC transfers, make sure that your database is set to allow transactions over the limit, for specific instructions on changing these settings click here.
- Make sure that the Joint Fundraising Committee is linked to your Filing Committee, for specific instructions on adding a Joint Fundraising Committee to your database, click here.
Adding a joint fundraising committee transaction:
- Add all the contributors into your database as individuals (or organizations if they are PACs). Each entity must have their own record.
- Add the name of the Joint Fundraising Committee as an organization in your database (if they do not already exist).
- Select Add Transaction > Contribution in the Financials area of the Organization record.
- Enter in the appropriate fields. Multiple Primary and General designations are supported from the same contributions - they are designated when entering each contributor name and amount.
Check the box next to Force Itemize in order to pull the JFC memos to the FEC report. - Click on the Transfer box (this will move the transaction to line 12 of the FEC report).
- In the "JFC/Partnership" Linking Tab, type the name of your first contributor and click Find & Add. The system will do a mini-search for this record. Click Select to designate the appropriate record. Designate the amount from the specific contributor and designated election period.
- If there are more partners, repeat Step 6 until complete.
- Click Save.
**NOTE: If the filer is a Party committee, only affiliated PARTY committee transactions will pull to Line 12 per the FEC Party Guide. All other committee types pull to 11c, even if the other instructions (transfer checkbox/Intermediary field) are followed.**
