Why Do Refunded/Returned Contributions Pull to Schedule 3-E on My Report's PDF Instead of Schedule 2-A?
Refunded/returned contributions will pull to 2-A when entered into the state's system. The reason why they pull to 3-E on the PDF version of our report (and don't affect totals) is because WI doesn't provide any coding for them on the electronic version of the report. This is why the state requires that they be manually entered into their system. As such, 3-E is used so that users will be able to identify that there are transactions that will need to be manually entered. If the refunds didn't appear anywhere on the PDF, there is a chance that these types of transactions may get missed by some users.
Other Notes on the WI State Report:
- The electronic version of the report is actually just comprised of lists of transactions that get uploaded into the state's system, so it doesn't include totals like the PDF cover page does.
- As long as all your all your other transactions pull to the report and import into the state system properly, and the refunds are entered as well, your report totals should be good to go. The state's system will do all of those calculations once all of your data is entered, and also provide a PDF version for your final review before submitting.
