15.5. File Vetting Tool

The vetting tool allows you to capture and append donor data to your spreadsheet that matches existing records in your database. This gives you a snapshot of what the results of an import might be and is especially useful for JFC transfers.

Here's how to use the file vetting tool.

1. select Vetting Tool on the Tools menu (or in Import Manager click the File Vetting button)

2. the Vetting Tool window opens to the Previous Files tab

3. submitted files are listed below

4. click the Start New File tab

5. click Browse and navigate and select your CSV file

(please note that the file must be a CSV file type, and must contain First Name and Last Name columns; Zip and Email are optional for more precise matches)

6. a message will confirm that your file has been uploaded

7. click Next in the bottom-right

8. under the File Column selections- choose the column headers in your file that have First Name and Last Name. Optionally choose column headers that have a Zip Code and Email

9. under Target Search Field- these are the CM record fields- choose FirstName next to your First Name column, choose LastName next to your Last Name column, same with ZIp5 and Email if applicable. Be sure the columns selected on the left matches the selection made on the right

10. click Next in the bottom-right

11. click the dropdown for Appended Response Columns and select the data you'd like to see on your completed file- Matched Records Found in Db will show you the number of records that matched your file and appears by default. It's helpful to add at least the Record ID and Election Period Totals 

12. enter your email to receive the file once completed

13. click Submit in the bottom-right

14. a message will display confirming the file submission, click Previous Vetting Files to see your file status

15. the Match% will show you if there were matches

16. the Status will start on processing then change to Emailed once completed

17. you can download the file from here or check your email or resend the email if needed

18. click close to exit the vetting tool

The vetted file will have your original columns on the left, and the appended columns with new data on the right.
