18.7. How to E-file FEC Form 24

The steps required in order to file a 24/48 hour report are mostly the same as other FEC compliance reports:

  1. Start by creating the Independent Expenditures that will pull to the report. You can find data entry steps on the help file found here.
  2. Once all of the IE's have been entered, the rest of the process is just like any other FEC report. You'll need to go to Compliance > Government Reports.
  3. From the left side of the page under File New Report, select the FEC Form 24.
  4. In section 1, select the filing committee and bank accoun(s) (if applicable).
  5. In section 2, click on Start Blank Form, or click on a previous draft, if there are any.
  6. You'll be directed to the report's parameter screen. Here, enter all of the options needed for your report.
    • If you're unsure of what to set your parameters to, such as date range, 24 hour notice versus 48 hour notice, etc., then you'll need to reach out to your FEC analyst. They'll be the best person to reach out to in regards to reporting requirements like these.
  7. Click on Generate Report. Once the system finishes generating it, you'll land on the completion page, which will have download links to each file type associated with the report. In addition, if you are ready to do so, you'll also be able to submit the report from this screen.
    • In the event that you don't submit your report from that screen, then you can always go back to Compliance > Government Reports. From the Previous Reports section on the right side, you'll find previously generated drafts; from here, the Download option will give you all of those same file download links.
    • If you want to file from that Previous Reports section, you can click on the down arrow button, and you'll find the E-File This Report option, so you can submit from here when you're ready.
